Examining the link between hidradenitis suppurativa and heart disease
HIDRAdenitis Suppurativa and HEART Disease
Herlev and Gentofte Hospital · NCT05989945

What this trial studies
This observational cohort study aims to investigate the relationship between cardiac biomarkers, advanced echocardiography, and the severity of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) in a group of 250 patients. The study will assess whether these factors can serve as prognostic markers for heart disease in individuals suffering from HS. Given the shared inflammatory pathways between HS and cardiovascular disease, the research seeks to uncover potential risks and underlying mechanisms linking these conditions. The study will utilize advanced imaging techniques and biomarkers to provide insights into the cardiovascular health of HS patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 years and older diagnosed with hidradenitis suppurativa.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to cooperate with the study procedures or cannot provide informed consent may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved cardiovascular risk assessment and management strategies for patients with hidradenitis suppurativa.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated a correlation between hidradenitis suppurativa and cardiovascular disease, suggesting that this approach may yield valuable insights.
