What this trial studies
This study compares the effectiveness of two different nerve block techniques, the modified thoracoabdominal nerve block through a perichondrial approach (M-TAPA) and the quadratus lumborum block, for providing postoperative pain relief in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The trial will involve adult patients aged 21 to 70 years who are classified as ASA physical status I or II. The goal is to determine which technique offers better analgesia following surgery under general anesthesia.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 21 to 70 years undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy with ASA physical status classes I or II.
Not a fit: Patients with ASA physical status classes III or above, coagulopathy, or local anesthetic allergies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved pain management strategies for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar nerve block techniques, indicating potential for success in this approach.
