What this trial studies
This study investigates the use of live video calls between on-call neurologists and emergency medical technicians to enhance the assessment of patients suspected of having a stroke. The goal is to improve the accuracy and speed of prehospital evaluations, which are critical for timely treatment of stroke. By utilizing video technology, the study aims to determine if this method can increase the feasibility and performance of existing symptom-based stroke scales in a prehospital setting. The trial will focus on patients suspected of stroke within 24 hours of symptom onset.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old who are suspected of having a stroke within 24 hours of symptom onset.
Not a fit: Patients who have had a stroke more than 24 hours ago or those who are unconscious (GCS ≤ 8) will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce the time to treatment for stroke patients, potentially improving outcomes and reducing morbidity and mortality.
How similar studies have performed: Recent studies have shown promising results using video solutions for stroke assessment in prehospital settings, indicating that this approach may be effective.
