What this trial studies

This observational study will deliver an electronic REDCap survey to adults who self-identify as having fibromuscular dysplasia to document the types of physical activity recommendations they received and how those recommendations affect daily life and emotions. The survey targets a broad, national population of English-speaking participants aged 18–100 and collects information on activity limits, counseling sources, and quality-of-life impacts. Because current guidance is based largely on expert opinion and varies across providers, the study aims to map real-world advice and its consequences for patients. Results will summarize the breadth of recommendations and their reported effects to inform future guidance and patient counseling.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18–100 with a diagnosis of fibromuscular dysplasia who can read English and complete an online survey are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People who cannot complete electronic consent or the online survey, non-English speakers, or those without a diagnosis of FMD are unlikely to benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could clarify common activity recommendations and support better counseling to improve quality of life for people with FMD.

How similar studies have performed: This approach is largely novel for FMD at a national scale, as existing guidance is expert opinion and there have been no large national surveys characterizing activity recommendations and their impacts.
