What this trial studies

This observational study aims to establish the first pan-European registry for spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), a condition that primarily affects young women without traditional heart disease risk factors. The registry will collect data from at least 500 prospectively recruited patients and 500 historical cases across approximately 30 countries and 120 sites. Patient data will be gathered at various time points, including the first SCAD event visit and yearly follow-ups for up to five years, to enhance understanding of SCAD management and inform clinical guidelines.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this registry are patients aged 18 years and older who have been clinically diagnosed with SCAD within the past 10 years and have available coronary angiographic imagery.

Not a fit: Patients with iatrogenic or atherosclerotic coronary dissection will not benefit from this registry.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could lead to improved diagnosis and management of SCAD, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been local and national registries for SCAD, this pan-European approach is novel and aims to fill a significant gap in understanding this condition.
