What this trial studies
This research gathers information from older patients diagnosed with cancer at the North Carolina Cancer Hospital to create a registry called 'Carolina Senior'. Participants will complete a Geriatric Assessment (GA) to evaluate their functional status and overall health. The study aims to measure response rates and patient satisfaction with the GA, as well as gather data on patient care patterns to support future cancer research. The registry will include patients with various types of cancer, excluding certain nonmelanoma skin cancers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are older patients with an appointment at the North Carolina Cancer Hospital who agree to complete the Geriatric Assessment.
Not a fit: Patients who are not diagnosed with cancer or those who cannot complete the Geriatric Assessment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could enhance understanding of cancer in older patients and improve future treatment approaches.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have successfully utilized registries to gather data on cancer patients, making this approach both relevant and beneficial for future research.
