What this trial studies
This research involves collecting and storing samples of tissue, blood, and body fluids from patients diagnosed with various hematologic cancers. The samples will be used for ongoing diagnostic, prognostic, and immune-monitoring studies to enhance cancer research. The study aims to support both clinical and basic research efforts at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and ensure responsible patient care and research conduct. Patients will undergo sample collection during routine diagnostic procedures, which may include biopsies and blood draws.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients diagnosed with hematologic cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma who are being evaluated at the University of North Carolina Hospitals.
Not a fit: Patients not diagnosed with hematologic cancers or those not receiving care at the specified clinics may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly advance the understanding and treatment of hematologic cancers.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies involving sample collection for cancer research have shown success in enhancing understanding and treatment options, making this approach well-supported by previous research.
