What this trial studies

This is a pilot interventional program delivering culturally and linguistically tailored colorectal cancer education to adults aged 45–75 who are not up to date with screening. Participants who speak English or Chinese will receive targeted educational materials and outreach at NYU Langone Health, with follow-up to document screening completion. The primary aims are to measure feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness in increasing screening completion. Results will inform larger trials or implementation efforts if promising.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults 45–75 years old who are overdue for CRC screening (no recent stool test and no recent colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy/CT colonography), speak English or Chinese, and can provide consent, without a history of colorectal cancer or colectomy.

Not a fit: Patients already guideline‑concordant for CRC screening, those with a history of colorectal cancer or colectomy, or those who do not understand English or Chinese are unlikely to benefit from this program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could increase colorectal cancer screening completion among overdue patients, leading to earlier detection and better outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Prior trials of culturally tailored education and navigation interventions have increased colorectal cancer screening rates in some populations, though results vary and larger studies are still needed.
