What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effects of photobiomodulation therapy, which uses near-infrared light, on patients recovering from total knee arthroplasty. Participants aged over 20 will be randomly assigned to receive either standard post-operative care or photobiomodulation therapy. The study aims to assess the impact of this therapy on inflammation, swelling, and pain levels following surgery. Outcomes will be measured through both objective assessments of swelling and subjective reports from patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 20 who are undergoing total knee arthroplasty.

Not a fit: Patients with open injuries, infections, or other complications at the surgical site may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this therapy could significantly reduce post-operative pain and inflammation for knee surgery patients.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with photobiomodulation therapy in reducing pain and inflammation, suggesting potential success for this approach.
