What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a specialized 0.55T MRI with a dental coil in diagnosing temporomandibular joint disorders, tissue changes related to third molars, and inflammatory diseases affecting the teeth and gums. It will compare the diagnostic quality of MRI images to traditional dental radiographic images. Participants will undergo MRI scans of their teeth and surrounding structures to assess the potential advantages of this imaging technique in dental diagnostics.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals referred for imaging of teeth or the temporomandibular joint due to various dental issues.

Not a fit: Patients who are under 18, pregnant, or have certain medical conditions that prevent MRI use will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more accurate diagnoses and improved treatment planning for dental conditions.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of MRI in dental diagnostics is not widely established, there is potential for success based on emerging technologies in imaging.
