What this trial studies

This trial aims to recruit a diverse national sample of 2,500 high-risk young men who have sex with men and non-binary individuals aged 16-29 to evaluate the effectiveness of the MyPEEPS Mobile intervention in reducing new HIV infections. The study employs community-informed advertisements and electronic methods for recruitment and retention, comparing the intervention's efficacy against standard care. By integrating robust epidemiological data, the trial seeks to identify factors influencing HIV seroconversion in this vulnerable population, ultimately advancing HIV prevention strategies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are HIV-negative or status unknown young men and non-binary individuals aged 16-29 who have engaged in anal sex with someone who has a penis in the last year.

Not a fit: Patients who identify as transgender will not benefit from this study as they are excluded from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly lower the rates of new HIV infections among high-risk youth.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar digital health interventions in HIV prevention, indicating a promising approach.
