Registry to assess thromboembolic complications in COVID-19 patients
COVID-19 Registry to Assess Frequency, Risk Factors, Management, and Outcomes of Arterial and Venous Thromboembolic Complications (CORONA-VTE NET)
This study looks at how often blood clots happen in COVID-19 patients and what factors might increase that risk to help improve prevention strategies.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to analyze the frequency and risk factors of arterial and venous thromboembolic complications in patients diagnosed with COVID-19. By utilizing electronic health records, the study will evaluate the incidence of symptomatic venous thromboembolism (VTE) and related outcomes over 30 and 90 days. It will also identify independent risk factors for VTE that could inform thromboprophylaxis strategies during and after hospitalization. The study will involve a cohort of 10,000 patients across various U.S. healthcare settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are either hospitalized or receiving outpatient care.
Not a fit: Patients who have not been diagnosed with COVID-19 or those who are not receiving any form of management for the infection may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved prevention and management strategies for thromboembolic complications in COVID-19 patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have indicated a significant association between COVID-19 and thromboembolic events, suggesting that this approach is grounded in emerging evidence.
