What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of maxillary and mandibular nerve blocks in providing analgesia for patients undergoing elective faciomaxillary surgery, particularly for those with mandibular fractures. The study aims to evaluate the pain relief provided by these nerve blocks during the critical postoperative period, which is often associated with significant discomfort. By comparing the analgesic effects of the nerve blocks to a control group, the trial seeks to determine the potential benefits of this intervention in managing postoperative pain.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are ASA I/II patients aged 21-60 years scheduled for elective faciomaxillary surgery.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, have polytrauma, or require postoperative ventilation will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce postoperative pain and improve recovery for patients undergoing jaw surgery.

How similar studies have performed: There have been few studies evaluating the analgesic effects of nerve blocks in maxillofacial surgeries, indicating that this approach may be novel or underexplored.
