What this trial studies
This study aims to gather comprehensive clinical data from patients diagnosed with infective endocarditis (IE) at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital. It will involve collecting demographic, clinical, laboratory, and imaging data at the time of diagnosis and during follow-up, which can extend up to 10 years. The goal is to improve the management and prognosis of IE by establishing a large prospective cohort, as current guidelines are primarily based on expert consensus rather than robust data.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients with a confirmed diagnosis of infective endocarditis according to European Society of Cardiology criteria.
Not a fit: Patients who oppose participation in the study will not benefit from the findings.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management strategies and better prognostic outcomes for patients with infective endocarditis.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited prospective data on infective endocarditis, this approach aims to fill a significant gap in the existing literature, suggesting it is a novel and necessary endeavor.
