Measuring follicular volume to improve oocyte maturation in women with low ovarian reserve
Follicular Volume at the Time of Final Oocyte Maturation in Poor Responders, and Its Correlation With Oocyte Maturity

What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on women with severely diminished ovarian reserve who are undergoing ovarian stimulation for oocyte vitrification. It aims to assess the correlation between follicular volume at the time of final oocyte maturation and oocyte maturity. By measuring follicular volume alongside traditional metrics, the study seeks to establish a cutoff value that could help optimize the timing of trigger administration, potentially reducing the risk of premature ovulation and improving the chances of obtaining mature oocytes. The intervention involves transvaginal ultrasound to accurately measure follicular volume.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include women aged 18-48 with a severely diminished ovarian reserve undergoing IVF or ICSI with preimplantation genetic testing.
Not a fit: Patients who have surgically retrieved sperm or do not meet the inclusion criteria may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the chances of achieving mature oocytes and viable embryos for women with low ovarian reserve.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown that optimizing trigger timing can improve outcomes in patients with low ovarian reserve.
