What this trial studies
This 32-week intervention utilizes a Sequential Multiple Assignment Randomized Trial (SMART) design to enhance physical activity levels in individuals with mobility limitations. Participants will have access to a library of exercise videos and wellness articles, and will be randomized to receive either asynchronous exercise content alone or combined with health coaching. The study will adapt based on participant adherence, offering additional support through live training if needed. The goal is to develop a resource-sensitive strategy that effectively promotes physical activity among this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 64 with permanent mobility impairments who have internet access and can converse in English.
Not a fit: Patients with significant visual impairments that prevent them from following a home exercise program or those who have been exercising regularly for the past six months may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve physical activity levels and overall health for individuals with mobility impairments.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing telehealth and adaptive interventions have shown promise, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
