What this trial studies
This observational project enrolls adults (18–99) with alcohol-related liver cirrhosis and collects information on their health literacy and self-efficacy using standardized questionnaires and interviews. No treatments or experimental interventions are provided; researchers will analyze responses to quantify patients' ability and confidence in managing their condition. Individuals who are pregnant or who do not speak sufficient German are excluded. The work is based at Hannover Medical School and aims to identify gaps that could guide targeted education and care strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 18–99 with a diagnosis of alcohol-related liver cirrhosis who can communicate in German and are not pregnant are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People seeking direct treatment benefits or those who cannot speak sufficient German or who are pregnant are unlikely to gain direct benefit from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help tailor education and support programs to improve how patients manage alcohol-related cirrhosis.
How similar studies have performed: Previous observational work using questionnaires in chronic liver disease has identified gaps in health literacy and self-efficacy, so this approach is established and likely to yield useful information.
