What this trial studies
This observational study investigates how exercise may influence cardiovascular ageing and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in older adults. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an exercise program or a control group with no exercise. The study will assess cardiovascular structure and function through imaging and metabolic profiling at the beginning and end of the study. The goal is to determine if exercise can modify high-risk metabolic profiles associated with cardiovascular ageing.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 21 and older who are able to walk outdoors.
Not a fit: Patients who are wheelchair or bed-bound, have dementia, or suffer from uncontrolled chronic conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide evidence that exercise can significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in older adults.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results in using exercise to improve cardiovascular health, making this approach both relevant and potentially impactful.
