Evaluating dental health after enamel reduction in orthodontic patients using clear aligners
Evaluation of Dental and Periodontal Health After Interproximal Enamel Reduction, in Patients in Orthodontic Treatment With Clear Aligners, and Comparison Between Laser Diode and Sodium Fluoride for the Treatment of Dentin Hypersensitivity
This study tests whether using a laser or fluoride can help reduce tooth sensitivity in orthodontic patients who are getting clear aligners and need some enamel removed.

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the dental and periodontal health of patients undergoing orthodontic treatment with clear aligners who require interproximal enamel reduction (IPR). It compares the effects of using a laser diode versus sodium fluoride on dentin hypersensitivity during treatment. The study aims to determine if these interventions can reduce the incidence of dentin hypersensitivity compared to a control group. The methodology involves assessing dental health outcomes and sensitivity levels using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS).
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals in orthodontic treatment with clear aligners who require interproximal enamel reduction and have good oral and periodontal health.
Not a fit: Patients with enamel defects, cervical caries, periodontal disease, or a history of trauma or craniofacial anomalies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved dental health outcomes and reduced sensitivity for patients undergoing orthodontic treatment with clear aligners.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar approaches in managing dentin hypersensitivity during orthodontic treatments.
