What this trial studies

This observational study creates a comprehensive research database that includes demographic and family history information, clinical symptoms, neuropsychological profiles, treatments, biological samples, and brain images of patients with Parkinson's disease and related disorders. Participants are seen annually for the first four years and biennially thereafter, allowing for longitudinal analysis of the disease's progression and treatment effects. The database aims to facilitate research on the long-term effects of Parkinson's disease, identify genetic factors, and improve patient management strategies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease who may also have mild cognitive impairment or dementia.

Not a fit: Patients without a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this database could enhance understanding of Parkinson's disease and lead to improved treatment and management strategies for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing similar observational databases have shown success in advancing understanding and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
