What this trial studies

This interventional comparison tests a custom-made Carriere Motion Appliance assembled from brackets, buccal tubes, a stiff wire, and NiTi coil springs against a commercially ready-made Carriere Motion Appliance. Participants are adolescents aged 12–15 with full permanent dentition and a bilateral end-on Class II molar relationship treated at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University. Patients with systemic conditions, harmful oral habits, transverse discrepancies, or prior orthodontic treatment are excluded. The study will compare the two appliance types for their effects on Class II correction, including distalization outcomes and appliance performance.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are 12–15-year-olds with full permanent dentition and a bilateral end-on Class II molar relationship who have not had prior orthodontic treatment and have no systemic or local issues that would interfere with therapy.

Not a fit: Patients with transverse dental discrepancies, harmful oral habits, systemic conditions affecting treatment, prior orthodontic treatment, or those outside the specified age/dentition range are unlikely to benefit from this comparison.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, a custom-made Carriere Motion Appliance could provide more efficient or comfortable correction of Class II malocclusion for adolescents.

How similar studies have performed: The Carriere Motion Appliance has been used successfully for Class II correction in prior clinical reports, but direct comparisons between custom-made and ready-made versions are limited.
