What this trial studies

This observational study aims to create a biobank consisting of tissue, blood, plasma, and stool samples from patients with inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as colorectal cancer. The goal is to identify biomarkers associated with treatment responses and postoperative complications, including neuro-cognitive and mood issues. By exploring the interactions between gut microbiota and the immune system, the study seeks to enhance understanding of these chronic conditions and their physiopathology. All samples collected will be anonymized to protect patient privacy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults with ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, or colorectal cancer who are undergoing digestive resection.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment strategies and better management of inflammatory bowel diseases and colorectal cancer.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in exploring microbiota interactions in similar conditions, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
