What this trial studies
This research aims to create a biobank of biological specimens from males that are used in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and assisted reproductive technologies (ART). The biobank will include testicular tissue, sperm, and semen samples that are no longer needed for clinical purposes. These samples will be collected from men who have undergone procedures like IVF or IUI and will be utilized for future research on male infertility and ART. The goal is to enhance understanding and treatment options for male infertility.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include males providing biological specimens for infertility treatments or sperm recipients using donor sperm.
Not a fit: Patients whose samples are quarantined for infectious diseases will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this biobank could lead to improved diagnostic and treatment strategies for male infertility.
How similar studies have performed: While biobanks for infertility research are common, the specific focus on male specimens in this context may provide novel insights.
