Antireflux stitch during one-anastomosis gastric bypass
Antireflux Suture In Laparoscopic One Anastomsis Gastric Bypass Surgery, A Randomised Control Trial

What this trial studies
Patients undergoing one-anastomosis gastric bypass at Khyber Teaching Hospital will be compared between those who receive an antireflux suture at the anastomosis and those who do not. Postoperative symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux and vomiting will be recorded and compared between groups over the follow-up period. The trial aims to fill a gap in evidence about whether the suture reduces symptomatic reflux after this specific bariatric procedure. Participants will be recruited and followed at the single study site in Peshawar with standardized symptom monitoring.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults who are scheduled to undergo one-anastomosis gastric bypass at Khyber Teaching Hospital and who provide informed consent are eligible to participate.
Not a fit: Patients who are not undergoing one-anastomosis gastric bypass or who decline participation are not expected to benefit from this specific intervention within the study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, adding the antireflux stitch could reduce postoperative reflux and vomiting and improve patients' recovery and quality of life after one-anastomosis gastric bypass.
How similar studies have performed: There is limited and inconclusive evidence so far about the benefit of an antireflux suture in this operation, so the approach remains incompletely tested.
