What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of low-level laser therapy and hyaluronic acid as adjuncts to non-surgical periodontal therapy for patients with periodontitis. Participants will be divided into three groups: one receiving standard scaling and root planing, another receiving scaling and root planing with laser treatment, and the third receiving scaling and root planing with hyaluronic acid application. The aim is to evaluate the healing outcomes and bacterial reduction associated with each treatment protocol. The study will be conducted at the University Medical Center Ljubljana.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are systemically healthy nonsmokers with untreated stage 3, grade B or C periodontal disease.

Not a fit: Patients with systemic diseases affecting periodontal health or those who have undergone recent periodontal treatment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance healing and improve outcomes for patients with periodontal disease.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with laser therapy in periodontal treatment, but the combination with hyaluronic acid is less explored.
