What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of intraoral scanners in diagnosing dental caries and periodontal diseases. Patients with at least one gingival recession will undergo a clinical examination and have a 3D impression of their mouth taken using the scanner. The study aims to compare the precision and time efficiency of this technology against traditional clinical examination methods. Secondary objectives include evaluating various dental indices through both clinical and numerical methods.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults consulting the Dental Care Service at the university hospital of Reims who have at least one gingival recession.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, undergoing orthodontic treatment, or unable to understand the study's requirements may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to faster and more accurate diagnoses of dental and periodontal diseases, improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of intraoral scanners is becoming more common, this specific application for automated disease detection is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
