Understanding the Aorta's Function and Structure
Phenotyping Heterogeneity and Regionality of the Aorta
Heinrich-Heine University, Duesseldorf · NCT05603520
This study looks at how the aorta works and its structure in both healthy people and those with aortic problems to see how these factors affect blood flow and overall health.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate the heterogeneity and regional differences in the aorta's physicomechanical properties, which are crucial for effective blood flow distribution. It will collect clinical data from both healthy volunteers and patients suffering from aortic stenosis and aortic aneurysms to better understand how these variations affect hemodynamics and contribute to conditions like large artery stiffness. The study focuses on the relationship between the aorta's structure and its function, particularly in relation to organ health. By systematically gathering this data, the research seeks to fill gaps in knowledge regarding aortic disease.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include healthy volunteers and patients diagnosed with 3rd degree aortic stenosis or aortic aneurysms.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old, those on active medication, or individuals with cardiovascular disease will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of aortic diseases, potentially enhancing patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research into aortic diseases, this specific approach to studying regional heterogeneity in the aorta is relatively novel.
