Tool for assessing memory in older adults
Creation of an Ecological Tool Assessing Episodic Memory in Geriatrics: an Adaptation of the Memory Test With Self-Initiated Items (MAI)
This study is testing a new memory tool for older adults aged 70 and up to see if it can help spot early signs of memory problems, especially in those with or without neurocognitive disorders.

What this trial studies
This study recruits participants aged 70 and older to assess their episodic memory using an ecological MAI test. Participants are divided into two groups: those with neurocognitive disorders and those without. The study involves neuropsychological assessments to determine the presence of neurodegenerative diseases. The assessment takes 30 minutes for routine care patients and 2.5 hours for those recruited from external institutions. The goal is to enable early detection of cognitive anomalies in older adults.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are males and females aged 70 and older who can move independently and agree to participate.
Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive impairment, legal protective measures, or significant visual disturbances may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to early detection and management of memory disorders in older adults.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using neuropsychological assessments for early detection of cognitive disorders, making this approach promising.
