What this trial studies
This study evaluates the acceptability and feasibility of a group telehealth exercise program specifically designed for Veterans suffering from lower extremity osteoarthritis. Participants will engage in a three-month telehealth exercise program, followed by a six-month maintenance phase that includes either text messaging support or additional group telehealth sessions. The study will assess feasibility through recruitment and retention metrics, while acceptability will be gauged through participant and provider surveys and interviews. The goal is to determine how well this intervention works for Veterans and their overall satisfaction with the program.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Veterans diagnosed with symptomatic knee or hip osteoarthritis who are physically inactive and have access to telecommunication.
Not a fit: Patients who have had recent surgeries, serious mental health conditions, or lack access to telecommunication may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could improve physical activity levels and quality of life for Veterans with osteoarthritis.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with telehealth interventions for chronic conditions, suggesting potential success for this approach.
