What this trial studies

The study uses standardized questionnaires to explore links between sexual life and mental health in community-dwelling older adults. Participants aged 60 or older who can communicate in French will complete measures such as the Index of Sexual Satisfaction (ISS), the EORTC QLQ-C30 quality-of-life questionnaire, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale (HAD), and report psychotropic medication use. People with major neurocognitive disorders or who cannot communicate in French are excluded. Analyses will examine relationships across questionnaire dimensions and compare sexual functioning with mental health scores and psychotropic drug use.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are voluntary community-dwelling adults aged 60 or older who speak French, can communicate clearly, and do not have major neurocognitive disorders.

Not a fit: People with major neurocognitive disorders, those who cannot communicate in French, or those unable to attend the study site are unlikely to benefit from participation or be eligible.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians and public-health programs recognise sexual health as a contributor to older adults' mental well-being and guide interventions to improve quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Previous observational studies have linked sexual activity and satisfaction to better mental and physical health, but focused research specifically in older community-dwelling populations remains limited.
