What this trial studies
This observational study establishes a comprehensive registry for patients with pancreatic cysts at UCSF. It aims to collect and analyze data on the natural history and epidemiology of pancreatic cysts, particularly focusing on small cysts that pose diagnostic challenges. By following patients over time, the study seeks to identify factors that influence cyst progression and the potential risk of malignancy, ultimately improving clinical management and decision-making regarding treatment options.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 30 and older with a diagnosis of pancreatic cysts who can read and speak English.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of pancreatic cancer or those who do not speak English may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could lead to better management strategies for pancreatic cysts, reducing unnecessary surgeries and improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited information on similar registries, the approach of systematically collecting data on pancreatic cysts is promising and could provide valuable insights.
