What this trial studies

This study aims to determine if a behavioral change intervention can enhance physical activity levels among stroke survivors living in the community. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group, which receives personalized physical activity counseling, or a control group that receives usual care. The effectiveness of the intervention will be assessed at three time points over a six-month period. The study will recruit participants through various channels, including stroke clinics and support organizations, and will involve screening for eligibility based on specific criteria.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 21 and over who are at least six months post-stroke and can walk independently.

Not a fit: Patients living in residential care or those with unstable health conditions that limit exercise may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve physical activity levels and overall health outcomes for stroke survivors.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar behavioral interventions aimed at increasing physical activity in stroke survivors.
