What this trial studies

This project aims to build and validate an AI-based prediction model for rehabilitation outcomes following total joint replacement (TJR) surgeries for hip and knee osteoarthritis. It involves collecting comprehensive data from patients who underwent elective TJR at the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi in 2019, including pre-surgery, surgical, and rehabilitation details. The data will be used to train an AI algorithm that helps clinicians design personalized rehabilitation programs based on evidence. The study focuses on various patient characteristics and outcomes to enhance the quality of care provided to patients post-surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who had total joint replacement surgery for osteoarthritis at the IRCCS Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute in 2019.

Not a fit: Patients who did not undergo total joint replacement surgery or were treated outside the specified institution will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved rehabilitation outcomes and personalized care for patients undergoing joint replacement surgeries.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of AI in rehabilitation is an emerging field, similar studies have shown promise in improving patient outcomes through personalized care approaches.
