What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of low-impact group exercise classes on pain levels in patients suffering from knee, hip, and ankle pain, specifically those with osteoarthritis. Participants will engage in these exercise classes three times a week for six months, alongside standard care interventions including dietitian consultations and behavioral health support. The goal is to assess improvements in pain and function for individuals who may not have previously engaged in conservative treatment options. The study aims to provide a comprehensive approach to managing osteoarthritis pain through physical activity and supportive care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and over with knee, hip, or ankle pain who can commit to attending classes regularly.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or incarcerated will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce pain and improve function for patients with osteoarthritis.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes for similar low-impact exercise interventions in managing osteoarthritis pain.
