What this trial studies

This study aims to investigate the causes and natural history of various parathyroid disorders, including parathyroid cancer and primary hyperparathyroidism. Participants, aged 6 months and older, will undergo standard care testing and provide medical history, which will be used for research purposes. The study will also explore genetic factors, biomarkers, and the evolution of these disorders over time, including their impact during pregnancy and associated health risks. Data will be collected through medical records, questionnaires, and potential biospecimen samples.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 6 months and older who have, are suspected of having, or are related to someone with a parathyroid or related disorder.

Not a fit: Patients younger than 6 months or those with conditions that may interfere with the study objectives may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of parathyroid disorders, ultimately enhancing patient care.

How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on the natural history of parathyroid disorders, similar observational studies have shown success in understanding other endocrine disorders.
