Observational study on psoriasis and its risk for arthritis
Determining Risk Factors for the Development of Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) Amongst People Living With Psoriasis: A Patient-driven On-line Prospective European Observational Cohort

What this trial studies
The HIPPOCRATES Prospective Observational Study aims to identify patients with psoriasis who are at risk of developing psoriatic arthritis. Conducted across Europe, this study involves adults with psoriasis who will complete questionnaires every six months to monitor their condition. The research is led by the University of Oxford in collaboration with University College Dublin, focusing on understanding the progression from psoriasis to psoriatic arthritis. The ultimate goal is to prevent the onset of arthritis in at-risk individuals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a self-reported diagnosis of skin psoriasis.
Not a fit: Patients who already have a pre-existing diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to early interventions that prevent the development of psoriatic arthritis in patients with psoriasis.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in identifying risk factors for psoriatic arthritis, making this approach both relevant and potentially impactful.
