Observational study on kidney transplant recurrence in FSGS and MCD
Recurrence Post-transplant Observational Study in Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and Minimal Change Disease (MCD)
This study is looking at patients with kidney diseases called FSGS and MCD who have had or will have a kidney transplant to see how often these diseases come back afterward.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to gather data on patients with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and minimal change disease (MCD) who have undergone or will undergo kidney transplantation. It will collect both retrospective and prospective data, along with biospecimens and patient-reported information, to better understand the incidence and prevalence of disease recurrence post-transplant. The study seeks to create a biorepository to support future research into the mechanisms and outcomes of these kidney diseases.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with FSGS or MCD who have received a kidney transplant since the year 2000.
Not a fit: Patients with pathologic diagnoses other than FSGS or MCD, or those with secondary forms of these diseases, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of FSGS and MCD recurrence after kidney transplantation.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been smaller studies on FSGS and MCD, this multicenter approach is novel and aims to address limitations of previous research.
Eligibility criteria
Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion Criteria: * Retrospective non-consented participant group had a transplant from the year 2000 and onward. * Diagnosis of FSGS or MCD in the native kidney (prior to transplant). Exclusion Criteria: * Pathologic diagnosis other than FSGS or MCD * FSGS or MCD secondary to a known disorder (e.g. lupus nephritis, Immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy, malignancy)
