International registry for pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrest outcomes
Pediatric In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest International Registry (PACHIN): a Prospective International Multicenter Register of Cardiac Arrest in Children.
This study is creating a global registry to track the outcomes of children who have cardiac arrests in hospitals, to see how well they survive and recover after treatment.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to create a multicenter, international registry to collect data on pediatric patients who experience cardiac arrest in hospitals. It follows the Utstein model for data recording and includes variables such as hospital characteristics, resuscitation team details, patient demographics, and outcomes related to CPR and post-resuscitation care. The primary outcome is survival at hospital discharge, while the secondary outcome focuses on survival with good neurological status. Data will be collected from participating hospitals across Europe and Latin America over a 24-month period.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 1 month to 18 years who experience cardiac arrest in a hospital setting.
Not a fit: Patients receiving extracorporeal circulatory support at the time of cardiac arrest will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could improve understanding of factors influencing survival and neurological outcomes in pediatric cardiac arrest, leading to enhanced treatment protocols.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing similar registry approaches have shown promise in improving outcomes for cardiac arrest patients, indicating potential for success in this study.
