What this trial studies
This pragmatic trial aims to enhance the reach of evidence-based interventions for tobacco cessation among patients in safety-net healthcare systems living in persistent poverty. It employs a multilevel approach, utilizing patient-level Conversational Agents and Patient Navigation strategies alongside clinic-level implementation strategies to increase access to tobacco cessation services. The study will assess the effectiveness of these strategies through a factorial design, randomizing patients based on their responses to Quit Services. The goal is to address both tobacco use and the social determinants of health impacting these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who currently use tobacco, live in persistent poverty census tracts, and have access to participating clinics.
Not a fit: Patients who have opted out of receiving text contact from the clinic will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve tobacco cessation rates among underserved populations, leading to better health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in implementing similar tobacco cessation interventions, indicating potential for positive outcomes in this approach.
