Improving language comprehension in Lewy body disease using brain stimulation
Language and Lewy Body Diseases: Sentence Comprehension Problems and Modifying Noninvasive Brain Stimulation Treatment

What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on language comprehension in patients with Lewy body diseases (LBDs) who also have mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The research focuses on understanding how non-invasive brain stimulation can address language dysfunctions that are often overlooked in LBD patients. By targeting the cognitive aspects of LBDs, the study aims to enhance social and occupational functioning, thereby improving the quality of life for affected individuals. Participants will be right-handed Czech speakers aged 60-80 with specific inclusion criteria related to their cognitive status.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are right-handed Czech-speaking individuals aged 60-80 with mild cognitive impairment associated with Lewy body diseases.
Not a fit: Patients with psychiatric disorders, epilepsy, or those with MRI-incompatible metal implants will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve language comprehension and overall quality of life for patients with Lewy body diseases.
How similar studies have performed: While non-pharmacological approaches like tDCS are gaining attention, this specific application in Lewy body diseases is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
