What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of the French version of the Metacognitive Bibliotherapy Program 'MYMCT' in reducing symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It aims to provide an accessible, unguided self-help intervention based on cognitive behavioral therapy principles, particularly focusing on metacognitive strategies. Participants will be individuals diagnosed with OCD who have not changed their psychiatric medication in the past three months and are proficient in French. The study seeks to address the treatment gap for OCD, especially exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with OCD who have stable psychiatric medication and can communicate effectively in French.
Not a fit: Patients with psychotic or bipolar disorders, or those participating in other conflicting clinical trials, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could provide a valuable self-help resource for individuals with OCD, improving their symptoms and overall quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While bibliotherapy is a growing field, the specific application of metacognitive strategies in OCD treatment is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
