What this trial studies
This research aims to develop and validate a digital platform called SMART@Home for managing asthma in children aged 11-17. The study will focus on creating a user-friendly app that connects with Bluetooth-enabled devices to track disease activity and integrates with electronic health records for better treatment planning. The goal is to enhance patient engagement and provide objective data to clinicians, ultimately improving asthma management. A pilot user validation trial will be conducted to ensure the platform meets its development goals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 11-17 diagnosed with asthma who can communicate in English.
Not a fit: Patients with pervasive developmental disorders or serious mental illnesses may not benefit from this study due to the complexity of their conditions.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this platform could significantly improve asthma management and patient outcomes for children by providing real-time data and personalized care.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using digital platforms for chronic disease management, but this specific approach is relatively novel.
