Exploring a fasting diet for Asian Americans with prediabetes
Pilot Study on Fasting-Mimicking Diet in Asian Americans with Prediabetes

What this trial studies
This pilot study investigates the feasibility of implementing a Fasting-Mimicking Diet (FMD) specifically tailored for Asian Americans diagnosed with prediabetes. Participants will follow a calorie-restricted nutrition regimen over a 5-day period, and the study aims to assess recruitment, adherence, and attrition rates, as well as the diet's effects on fasting blood glucose levels and physical measurements. Participants will undergo pre- and post-diet evaluations, including surveys and blood tests to measure glucose and ketone levels.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Asian Americans diagnosed with prediabetes based on specific blood glucose criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or certain dietary restrictions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide an effective dietary intervention to help manage prediabetes in Asian American populations.
How similar studies have performed: While the Fasting-Mimicking Diet is a novel approach, similar dietary interventions have shown promise in managing metabolic conditions.
