What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the activities of daily living and upper extremity exercise capacity in individuals with high body mass index (BMI) of 25 or greater and those with normal BMI ranging from 18.5 to 24.9. Participants will be recruited based on their BMI and will undergo various tests to evaluate their physical functions. The study will include individuals volunteering for participation while excluding those with certain health conditions that could affect their physical capabilities.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 and older with either a high body mass index (≥ 25 kg/m2) or a normal body mass index (18.5-24.9 kg/m2).

Not a fit: Patients with uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes, or other serious comorbidities, as well as those with a BMI outside the specified ranges, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into how body mass index affects daily activities and exercise capacity, potentially guiding interventions for individuals with high BMI.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies examining similar aspects of BMI and physical function, this specific observational approach focusing on daily activities and exercise capacity in this population may be novel.
