Effects of lung cancer surgery on heart function and electrocardiograms

The Cardiac Stress and Electrocardiographic Changes Caused by Lung Cancer Surgery.

What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the cardiac stress and electrocardiographic changes associated with modern mini-invasive lung cancer surgery. It aims to detail the electrocardiographic alterations and their duration during the perioperative and early postoperative periods. The study will involve 100 adult patients scheduled for elective lung cancer surgery, with electrocardiograms recorded preoperatively, daily postoperatively, and during follow-up visits. Additionally, laboratory tests will be conducted to assess cardiac stress indicators.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult patients scheduled for elective, curatively aimed mini-invasive lung cancer surgery.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of significant cardiac issues or those requiring open surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of cardiac risks associated with lung cancer surgery, leading to improved patient management and outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific focus on electrocardiographic changes during lung cancer surgery is novel, similar studies have shown that monitoring cardiac function during surgical procedures can provide valuable insights.
