What this trial studies

This study evaluates the outcomes of open versus minimally invasive surgical techniques for pancreatic and liver tumor resections. It involves a retrospective chart review of patients who underwent these surgeries at Methodist Dallas Medical Center from January 2006 to December 2020. The study will analyze various outcome variables, including patient survival, length of hospital stay, complication rates, operative time, transfusion rates, and readmission rates at 30 and 90 days post-surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients aged 18 and older who have undergone pancreatic or liver resection surgeries at Methodist Dallas Medical Center during the specified time frame.

Not a fit: Patients who have not undergone pancreatic or liver resection surgeries or are under 18 years of age will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify the most effective surgical techniques for improving patient outcomes in pancreatic and liver tumor resections.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown varying success with similar surgical technique comparisons, but this specific evaluation is novel in its comprehensive approach to analyzing multiple outcome variables.
