Comparing single-visit and multiple-visit treatments for tooth revascularization
Clinical and Radiographic Outcomes of Single- Versus Multiple-visit Revascularization of Asymptomatic Necrotic Immature Maxillary Permanent Incisors: a 24-month Randomized Clinical Trial
This study is testing whether a single visit or multiple visits for tooth revascularization works better for patients with certain dental issues.

What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the outcomes of revascularization procedures for asymptomatic necrotic immature maxillary incisors over a 24-month period. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either a single-visit or multiple-visit revascularization treatment. The study will assess both clinical and radiographic results to determine the effectiveness of each approach. The trial focuses on patients with specific dental conditions requiring non-surgical root canal treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include healthy patients with at least one immature maxillary permanent incisor diagnosed with pulp necrosis and chronic apical periodontitis.
Not a fit: Patients with systemic conditions affecting dental treatment, those on medications that interfere with healing, or children unable to comply with follow-up may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the most effective treatment protocol for revascularizing immature permanent incisors, potentially improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be existing studies on revascularization, this specific comparison of single- versus multiple-visit protocols is relatively novel.
Eligibility criteria
Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion Criteria: * Compliant healthy patients who had at least one immature maxillary permanent incisor requiring nonsurgical root canal treatment. * Patients presenting with a diagnosis of pulp necrosis with chronic apical periodontitis confirmed by history, clinical, radiographic and operative examination. * Patient without previous endodontic treatment in affected tooth. Exclusion Criteria: * Patients with systemic conditions (medical, developmental or behavioral) that make routine dental treatment difficult. * Patients taking medications that can interfere with healing or hemostasis. * Patients with allergy to local anesthetics * Children who will not comply to recall program. * Teeth with extensive loss of coronal tissue that require restoration with a post * Teeth with internal or external root resorption
