What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of adding pyramidal exercise to an intermittent fasting regimen on alleviating eye dryness in obese patients suffering from chronic plaque psoriasis and prediabetes. Forty participants will be randomly assigned to either a group receiving only intermittent fasting or a group that combines intermittent fasting with pyramidal training exercises. The intermittent fasting will involve a 5:2 diet, where participants eat freely for five days and restrict calories on two non-consecutive days. The exercise component will consist of structured running sessions on a treadmill, supplemented with warm-up and cool-down activities, conducted three times a week for two weeks.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are obese individuals with chronic plaque psoriasis, prediabetes, and symptoms of dry eyes.
Not a fit: Patients with diabetes, hypertension, or significant cardiac, respiratory, renal, or hepatic issues may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve eye dryness and overall health in patients with psoriasis and prediabetes.
How similar studies have performed: While the combination of exercise and intermittent fasting is a novel approach, similar interventions have shown promise in improving metabolic and dermatological conditions.
