Analysis of outcomes after surgery for bone tumors in the proximal femur
Proximal Femur Reconstruction Following Resection of Primary Bone Tumors: Analysis of the Clinical and Radiographic Results

What this trial studies
This observational study reviews the clinical and radiographic results of approximately 150 patients who underwent oncological reconstruction of the proximal femur at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute from 1991 to 2023. The study involves a comprehensive analysis of medical records, radiological imaging, and histological data to assess the effectiveness and outcomes of the surgical interventions. By examining long-term results, the study aims to provide insights into the management of primary bone tumors in this specific anatomical region.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include male and female patients aged 18-90 who have undergone oncological reconstruction of the proximal femur due to bone sarcoma.
Not a fit: Patients who do not meet the inclusion criteria, such as those without available clinical and imaging data, will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of surgical outcomes and improve treatment strategies for patients with bone tumors.
How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on a specific cohort and timeframe, similar studies analyzing surgical outcomes in bone tumors have shown promising results, indicating the potential for valuable insights.
