What this trial studies
PATAKESS is a non-interventional cohort study that analyzes clinical and biological data from patients with exocrine pancreatic tumors. It includes both prospective data from living patients and retrospective data from deceased patients whose tumor samples were collected during routine healthcare. The study aims to correlate biological characteristics of the tumors with clinical outcomes, focusing on the interactions between tumor cells and the surrounding stroma. This research is crucial for understanding the aggressive nature of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and improving therapeutic strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients aged 18 or older who have undergone surgery for exocrine pancreatic adenocarcinoma at Centre Léon Bérard since January 2010.
Not a fit: Patients with other types of pancreatic cancer or those who have not had surgery for exocrine pancreatic adenocarcinoma may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding of pancreatic cancer biology and potentially enhance treatment strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the specific interactions of tumor stroma and pancreatic adenocarcinoma, similar studies have shown promise in understanding tumor biology and improving treatment outcomes.
